Surreal Interior Design for Adobe Substance

We partnered with the Adobe Substance 3D team to explore the relationship between 2D and 3D artwork. We would lay out an initial concept in their distinctive, tranquil style, modeling and lighting the scene. The Adobe team would thereafter use the Substance 3D toolset to fine-tune textures and add a range of elements, imbuing the scene with new characters.

The goal of this project was to provide art direction to the Substance 3D team, guiding them in creating textures and fine details. We aimed to design an interior environment with distinct foreground, midground, and background elements. The scene was imagined as a space that doesn’t exist yet but feels discoverable—a vast, serene view of nature at sunrise or sunset. These times of day evoke subtle, melancholic emotions and allow for soft, directional lighting and a rich spectrum of colors, making the scene more visually engaging.
